How to Plan for Your Branding Photoshoot

October 5, 2020

Are you considering planning a branding photo shoot? Let me tell ya, they are the BOMB and help you to have content for DAYS. Literally. In this video, I’m sharing with you all 3 things you NEED to know when it comes to how to plan for your branding photoshoot, and how to be totally prepared!

How to Plan for Your Branding Photoshoot

Pick Your Location

This is super important! Choose a location that’s either meaningful to your or really reflects your business and brand. Your branding photos give a showcase into who you are and what you do. So whether you’re a photographer with photos that you’re shooting or it’s a location that shows you working at home from your home office, it’s important to find a location that really shows who you are. Overall, it should also be a location that reflects your brand and is somewhere that speaks to your ideal client, too. Wherever you pick, you’ll be able to gather a variety of images to reflect the heart of your business.

Map Out Content You Want

Think about what you’re going to use these images for. Will they be for social media? Maybe your new website? Do you need them for a big launch? Knowing this beforehand and being able to communicate that with your brand photographer is SUPER helpful. What you need the images for will help everyone plan better – to make sure you have variety, the right locations, or even the right props. Whatever your goal is (nothing is right or wrong!), communicate that with your photographer so you’re happy with the final images.

Hire an Amazing Brand Photographer

Brand photography is a bit different from a regular portrait session, so hire someone who knows what they’re doing! A professional will understand what you’re looking for and work with you to capture the images you need. Branding portraits will help push your business forward visually – so it’s important that these images really reflect who you and your brand are. A good brand photographer will work to capture all of the parts of your personality that matter, too!

Finally, I have a GIFT for you today! If you want a FREE guide to 65 props you should consider for your session, grab a copy. Props are a great way to have tons of variety in your session without a lot of extra work.

Oh… and PS, I AM a branding photographer, so you can always reach out and learn more about the branding photoshoot process. If you haven’t already, check out some of my latest branding sessions too: Nicole’s branding session and Ashley’s branding session!
