Today, I’m excited to share five big picture content ideas for Instagram Reels for your small business or online brand. There’s no dancing or pointing required! These ideas are evergreen and are things you can think about when you’re approaching Instagram Reels to create content. I hope that these ideas help you get excited to make content and feel more comfortable with coming up with ideas!
Jump on a Trend
The first idea is to jump on a trend. Like I said, you don’t have to dance or point! There’s so many trends out there. When it comes to trends, these videos can be really impactful if you put your own spin on it for your particular niche or ideal client. I’ve found that the more “trendy” Reels tend to perform better in general on my account, so I do try to jump on them when I see them. If you want to see two ways I’ve used a trend for a Reel, check out one HERE and HERE.
PS, I have a free download where you can grab 10 specific Instagram Reel ideas and I even provide the audio for you – so it’s super easy to create those videos!!
Give a Quick Hack
Instagram Reels aren’t the place to give the full picture of how to do something or share everything you know about something you do. These are super quick and short videos, so your Reels will do better if you’re quick about what you’re sharing. Honestly, the most impactful ones that I’ve seen are the Reels where I give ONE tip at a time. Again, think about your specific audience and who you’re trying to reach so that you can attract who you’re trying to bring to your account! Giving people value really does well on Instagram Reels and will help you attract a more specific audience.

Show a Transformation
People who watch Reels LOVE to see a transformation – it’s all about the process. So when you think about Reels, think about how you can show a process in 15 or 30 seconds. This is great for DIY accounts, artists… anyone where you have a clear before and after that you can share. But, you can also share something more personal or about changes over time (maybe when you started to now!). There’s so many ways to use this idea. You could even talk about the change your clients experience when working with you. Remember, the power is in the process. I’ve got some inspiration for those HERE where I made my own desk and HERE featuring before + after edits for my mobile presets!
Motivate your Audience
This idea for Instagram Reels can be really impactful. Only recently have I created Instagram Reels that are meant to motivate my audience, and surprisingly, they’ve performed very well! For me, when I think about motivating my audience, I tend to use lip sync videos, motivational audio with clips of your life and business, or talk directly to the camera. Whatever you share, think about how you can encourage your audience to feel inspired. These Reels can really get to the heart of your business and everyone loves that! Here’s one of my favorite Instagram Reels that’s motivational!
Break a Common Misconception
Instagram Reel audiences love the “wow” or “shock” factor and tend to perform really well! When I say “shock”, I don’t mean anything too crazy – but just think about breaking a misconception for your ideal audience. For example, I shared an Instagram Reel about how you actually don’t need to have a perfectly curated Instagram feed to start posting!
Remember, Instagram Reels are about connecting with your audience and these trends can help you do that! I hope that these five content ideas help you feel more inspired and confident to create Instagram Reels for your business.
