I Hit 10k Followers on Instagram, and Here’s How I Did It

October 26, 2020

I JUST HIT 10K FOLLOWERS ON INSTAGRAM. It doesn’t even feel real.  I’ve been an entrepreneur for almost 5 years now and hitting this milestone seems absolutely unbelievable to me. While I always preach that numbers aren’t everything, I’m just blown away that SO many of you on Instagram love to follow along on my journey. It’s humbling and so very sweet all at once. Today I want to share a few things I’ve learned on my journey to 10k and some tips on how you can hit 10k too.

10K Followers on Instagram: Stephanie Kase, online business educator, shares strategies for how she hit 10K Followers on Instagram

Jump on any new features.

Guys, I love Instagram… It’s been one of my favorite platforms for YEARS. However, I will say that more recently their new feature Instagram Reels has really spurred my growth. As I started sharing Reels, my followers jumped from 7K followers to over 10K followers within two months. TWO MONTHS. I was growing much slower before that – about 100 to 150 new followers a month. All that to say: I strongly encourage you to JUMP on new features that Instagram comes out with. Their platform is going to reward you for doing so and you’ll reach so many more people with your amazing content.

Give them a REASON to follow, and to keep following you.

First things first. A few obvious questions: Are you posting consistently? Are you giving VALUE driven content that gets them to WANT to follow you to stay up to date on new posts? Be consistent with how you show up for your audience. Even before Instagram Reels were released, I was posting 3-5 times a week in my feed and I was on my stories every single day. Now with Reels, I show up with now reels or Instagram posts 2x/day because of all the insane growth that’s happening right now… and still in my stories every day. There isn’t a right or wrong answer here as to how much you post…, but more is better! I intentionally repurpose content to make this easier and have a team helping me too. But being CONSISTENT with at least something daily is going to help!

Personally, I’ve even noticed from new accounts that I follow that if they are consistently SHOWING UP in stories or Instagram posts, I immediately become way more engaged with their account and want to keep following them… instead of wondering who I followed two months later and hitting unfollow. I can’t be the only one who’s like that!

Create an ENGAGED audience.

Seriously, the numbers are great… but at the end of the day, what you DO with the people following you is more important than anything else. Provide useful and educational content. Create a personal brand and show your face and share your story. Honestly, I always give my audience a glimpse into my life well beyond my business. They want to know they’re connecting with someone human, who struggles and succeeds like them.

And I make the time to SHOW UP for them. Beyond my posts and Reels, I spend time every day responding to all of the comments and messages I get. I even send voice messages to people – which has allowed me to connect on an even more personal level. Instagram is great to reach and sell to your audience. But, before you ever do that, you should know them and want to share with them.

I am so thankful to everyone who has helped me reach this incredible milestone. I still can’t believe it’s real! I hope these tips on how you can hit 10k followers on Instagram has helped you too!
