One of my favorite parts from our wedding day was, without a doubt, our foot washing ceremony. I had no idea how special it would be to take a few minutes during our ceremony to wash each other’s feet.
Michael and I chose to do this because we want to be humble towards each other in our marriage, no matter how hard that can be. Although we will fail at times, we knew that washing each other’s feet during our ceremony would give us something to look back on and be reminded of the humility we want to have.
Because we are followers of Christ, this especially has a really deep meaning for us. Jesus showed humility towards his disciples by washing their feet, which is what we were resembling.
If you are considering doing this, I would highly recommend it. It is one of my favorite memories from our day, and is something that means so much to us and made our day us.
