In this post, I’ll walk you through how we schedule Instagram Reels in Plann!
There is more than one way to schedule a reel. This is simply what works best for me and for my team! Full disclosure, my team member, Maggie, schedules the content that she or I create and then is the one to hit “post” when the time comes!
Create
First, open Plann and navigate to the “Create” section. For more help with this, see my previous post about getting started with Plann!
Upload
Upload your prepared reel. Typically, we create and edit the reel in the Instagram app (here’s a tutorial on Reels if you need it). Then, we save that reel to our camera roll (without audio). That is the video we upload here into Plann.
Cover Photo
Next to your video, you also have the opportunity to upload your cover photo. I’ve got a few free ones here if you would like to try them!
Caption
Next to your uploads, you can write your caption. If you are using an original audio, you can name it here, too.
Schedule
Lastly, select from the scheduling options. Here is where we get particular about our posting process. There IS an option to auto-post, however, if you want to attach a trending audio to your reel, then you will need to post it manually.
Post to Instagram
For that reason, we select “Custom Time.” Also, make sure to toggle off “auto-post.” When that time arrives, Plann will send a push notification to Maggie’s mobile devices letting her know it is time to post.
Once Maggie gets that notification, she selects “Copy & Post” on her mobile device. This saves the reel and the cover photo to her camera roll. From there, she goes to post the reel on Instagram and attaches the desired audio.
Sample Posting Schedule
Our rhythm that works for us is to schedule our reels one week in advance! Meaning, by Friday, we have reels for the following Monday – Friday already scheduled. That schedule might not work for everyone, though! I’ve made up a few sample posting schedules based on different capacities and goals that might be helpful for you.
