When you’re marketing your business on social media, there are four things your social media marketing needs. If you don’t accomplish these things, your marketing will not have a major impact on your overall conversions.

Let’s talk about the four S’s of online marketing.
Seen
Social media can help your business grow by raising awareness and helping you build an audience. There is an enormous benefit to getting in front of new people. The marketing rule of seven says that users often need to encounter something or someone seven times before making a purchase. In the context of the online marketing world with so much thrown at us all the time, I would imagine the number is even higher than that.
Our content should be getting us seen effectively by new people.
Serve
When you post content, you are leading with value before you sell. This might look like helpful information, sharing transformations, storytelling, or showing what results are possible. Establish yourself as a leader in your industry and show that you are willing to serve your community.
Sell
Do not be afraid to sell in your marketing. Make sure that you are seeing sales or conversions from your social media content. It can be tempting to lean into vanity metrics, but remember, our main goal is to see sales.
There might be people who are turned off by this if it’s overdone. However, if it’s done well, it will feel like a natural fit with the rest of your content.
Subscribers
I recommend that every business owner start their email list as soon as possible. You own it. It is not borrowed land. When emailing your list, you are not answering to trends or an algorithm. You can speak directly to your people.
If you’re in the beginning stages of growing your business, make an effort to move your audience onto your email list. I offer a free email class that goes deeper into how to gain new email list subscribers and make money from the emails you send. Head here to sign up for the class!
Next week, we’ll talk about if your audience is growing, but you are not seeing sales, and what to change.
See you next week on Monday at 7 AM!
