In 2023, I’m seeing “stock” content Reels blow up all over the app! The best part about these Instagram Reels? They’re super simple and very low effort to create. If you’re someone who’s trying to create Instagram Reels to grow your account, then you definitely want to learn more about what I’ve coined “stock” content Reels! Today, we’re going to talk about what they are, why they work, and how to create these simple Reels!
WHAT ARE “STOCK” CONTENT REELS?
Essentially, these are Reels that are of you doing something with text overlaid on the screen with popular audio. They’re simple, and honestly remind me of B roll footage. But, people LOVE these Reels!
WHY THEY WORK
The bottom line is that people love watching other people do things. This is why “stock” content Reels do well. It’s a funny thing about human nature, but we enjoy watching people do what they do. These Reels allow your audience a peek into your daily life, work tasks, and behind the scenes work. Some of the most mundane things can truly be awesome content. These Reels also work because they humanize your brand and show the human being behind your business.
Seriously, one of the reasons that I love these types of Reels is because you can film them easily. If you don’t want to be fully on camera, film yourself from behind or doing a task. You don’t have to spend forever to get ready, set up to record, and create a ton of videos. Instead, they really are about what things are like behind the scenes. I also think that these Reels don’t feel as “trendy” and they feel more real. The “stock” content Reels are a wonderful way to jump in on a trend without it feeling like you’re copying what other people are doing.
I’m all about low effort content that generates a huge impact!
HOW TO MAKE THEM
To create these Reels is to film yourself doing “everyday” tasks related to your brand or niche – or just your everyday life. It doesn’t have to be 100% related to your brand to use it. A few easy ideas include walking into your office, opening your laptop, taking a sip from your drink, making your lunch, or typing on your computer. Whatever it is that makes sense for you, your brand, and your audience… use it. The whole point is just that people are going to see you doing something that’s normal.
Whenever I think about filming this kind of content, just remember that movement matters. Even little movements can make a huge difference! The other thing to remember is to create negative space in your videos so you have room for text! You’re telling a little part of a story that will be elaborated on in your caption.
After you film these videos, I recommend compiling them into a folder on your camera roll so you can easily find them later to make the Reels. I love that you can create this content without having to pair it to sounds or really think about it. Now you’re ready to start adding the trendy music or sound!
