The Stephanie Kase Podcast, Ep. 8: How I incorporate my faith into my business

August 9, 2022

I’m so excited to be sharing another episode of the Stephanie Kase podcast with you today! This episode will be short and sweet, but important to me. This topic is something I don’t hear a lot of people talk about: how to incorporate your faith into your business. Obviously, this will look different for every business owner, but I wanted to share what I’ve done since I’ve been asked by my listeners and community. Today, I’m sharing the top three ways I bring my faith into my business! Let’s get started.

Learning to Invite God into My Business

This has been a theme for me in the last year specifically, but I’ve learned how to invite God into my business. I’ve learned how to be more aware of how He’s working. About a year ago, I was in a season of trying to figure things out for my business. I wasn’t paying attention to what He wanted for me. Around that time, I launched my mobile presets because I thought I should. They did well – not as well as I’d hoped. And it was about then that I realized I hadn’t been consistently asking God what I should be doing next. So, I began to ask him what He wanted to me to do next and how I could serve other people well.

It hit me how I had not been simply asking him and trying to understand what He wanted for me and business. So, after that I began to pray more often and invite him into every conversation I had about my business. This is really important when I’m in a season where I don’t know what’s going to happen next in my business or when I don’t know what to do. But, as soon as I began to bring God into the conversation, it became very obvious what the next route really was for me.

What’s been really cool to see is that I have the extra confidence now, knowing this is where I’m supposed to be. It’s made a difference everywhere in my business. I know I’m where God is calling me to and that’s changed everything.

Praying Over My Business

The other way I’ve brought my faith into my business is praying over my business. It’s more practical and might seem obvious, but it’s looked different in different seasons of my business. I’ve prayed over launches, over decisions, or what’s next for the brand. I take the time to sit and ask God if this is where He wants me to go. Being a business owner can be overwhelming at times, but asking Him gives me peace in the direction I choose. I have more confidence because I know I’m being led by Him. It’s a lot better than trying to just do things on my own and hoping it works out.

When I was a photographer, I actually prayed over my clients and their wedding days often. Whether it was with them or just in the car beforehand, I prayed for them and that God would help me serve them well. It can truly be as simple as that. These prayers don’t have to be super complicated. Sometimes, it’s as simple as sitting for a minute or two and asking for wisdom and guidance.

Incorporating Faith in My Business Values

The last thing is more of a foundational piece. I’ve always incorporated my faith into my business values, my mission, and the understanding of why my business exists in the first place. I have the business I do because He’s give it to me, and entrusted me with this. It’s not really mine, it was something that was gifted to me to take care of and nurture through Him. I also believe that everyone that comes in contact with my brand was brought there for a reason. I was given specific gits to be able to serve them, and that doesn’t mean everyone who I meet will connect with me – and that’s okay. The ones who do are the ones that were meant to.

Because I have this really cool opportunities to connect with people, I always want to sit back and think about how I can glorify God with what I do. How can I make sure that my values, mission, and how I serve others is a reflection of Jesus? That might look different for everyone, but it’s something I consistently come back to. A big focus of my brand is serving people, and I want to make sure I keep that a priority.

As you can see, there’s so many ways to incorporate faith into your business! As my business grows, I know I’ll continue to find new ways to bring God into my business and lean into him even more.
