Lately, I’ve been playing around with my Instagram Story strategy to see if I can increase my views. The results have been pretty amazing! I’ve had stories that frequently reach up to between 10-13% which is amazing considering the average rate is 5%. I have about 22k followers, which means I’m reaching upwards of 3,000 views on my stories. Today, I’m breaking down some of the strategies I’m using to create Instagram Stories that get higher views. If you’ve been in a rut or just wondering how to make your stories more engaging, these strategies will help you!
Add Interactive Elements.
This is one of the strategies that’s made the biggest difference in my story views. Anything that my audience can interact with – like the slider, polls, question boxes – will drive your interaction and views through the roof. People like to engage! So, give them the opportunity to. I know when I see polls in other people’s stories, I want to click a response. Personally, I try to strategically add in polls before other stories. If it’s one of the first ones I add for the day, I find that the following stories get higher views. Remember, there’s some really neat options for interaction but the polls and emoji slider are usually the easiest options for your audience to engage with!
Keep it interesting.
One of the other strategies that’s helped me a lot has been to keep my stories interesting. Trying to mix things up both in what you post each day but also throughout a day can be really helpful. If you think about it, your audience wants to be drawn in and see you. By posting the same thing over and over again, it can get a little boring. If you’ve noticed, Instagram actually makes you start recording a video again after four “slides” when you do an Instagram story. I think they even know what we should be mixing it up, too! So, an easy strategy to increase views and engagement is to simply switch it up! Share photos, something interactive, and videos – not just one thing over and over again.
Bonus tip here! When you’re talking to the camera in your story, make sure you caption your videos so that your viewers can skim and read what you’re saying. This will allow you to still get their attention, even if they can’t actually listen to your video at that moment.
Check your analytics.
The third thing that’s really important when driving story views is to review your analytics. It’s the easiest way to see what’s working and what’s not for your account. Everyone’s account is a little bit different so the only way to know what’s working on your account is to review your analytics. Try sharing a variety of things – peeks into your life, behind the scenes, your products – and then review what performs well. Remember, I can share for days about what works for me, but your business and audience is different than mine!
