Get More Time In Your Day for Marketing Your Business

September 24, 2024

Most of your online marketing will be in the form of content creation. As a busy business owner, how can you create more time in your schedule to create that content?

Listen to this episode on Apple Podcast or Spotify!

We’ll consider two methods of creating more time in your day: Eliminating and delegating.

Here are some things you can consider eliminating.

Platforms

Are there platforms that are not converting for your business? If you don’t know, start implementing systems of tracking where your leads and sales are coming from. Conversions are more than just views. Are you gaining new leads? How many sales are you getting from each platform? Consider eliminating platforms that are not helping to grow your business.

Tasks

Is your time going toward busy work or work that is making you money? Busy work looks like constant updates to your Instagram profile or website, or vanity changes to platforms you show up on. Those things are not innately bad, but if you’re pouring your time into them each month and not seeing more income, then they should not be a priority right now. Save them for when you do have spare time in your task list.

Unnecessary Work

What systems or automations can you setup so that you do not physically have to do them? This could be a program like Honeybook or Zapier that will perform tasks for you. Or, consider writing out email templates for responses that you often have to give.

Not Time Sensitive

What tasks are not necessary in this season? With marketing and getting in front of new people as your goal, what are some things that can take the backseat for now? I recommend a free program called Toggl. You can track your working hours and even assign categories to each block of your day. Then, you can see exactly how much time is spent on each task in your business, and potentially, where you’re spending too much time.

Here are some things you can consider delegating. Be aware that delegation might cost money.

Hiring

Consider hiring an assistant! Reference my podcast episode about hiring team members here for more information on that topic. Hiring is one of the best decisions I have made! It feels great to give up cont of the control, realize I’m not the best at every single task, and it has freed up so much of my time so that I can excel in other areas.

Personal Life

How can you outsource things in your personal life? Perhaps with grocery pickup or delivery, dog grooming, or house cleaning. Could the time you get back from skipping these activities help to make your business more money? It might be worth consideration, even if just for a limited time. When I had my twins, we outsourced a lot of household responsibilities. Now, we’re back to managing them ourselves!

Collaboration

Can you leverage someone else’s audience by creating something really impactful? Think of someone who has an audience similar to yours that you can get in front of and maximize the results of your marketing efforts. In a way, it’s like delegating the time you spend building your audience.

Innovate

How can you recognize what is not working in your business and creatively adapt? Two ways that I love to market my business are with YouTube and email. If you’re not already, I advise implementing long-form content like YouTube or growing your email list!

Check out my free class on each of these topics: YouTube and Email Marketing. There are bonuses offered inside of these free classes that you cannot obtain on my website. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to try out my teaching style and see if you’d like to continue learning from me!

Next week, in the last week of our series about kickstarting or re-kickstarting your online marketing, we’ll talk about the feeling of saying the same thing over and over in your marketing and how to change things up.
