Today I want to talk about 10 huge Instagram Story tips fro increase views. I want to help you come up with ideas that will drive engagement and improve your reach with each post you make so that it’s worth your time. These 10 tips are strategies I’ve actually been implementing on my own Instagram account, so I know that they truly can help you improve your account growth. Let’s jump right in to these 2022 Instagram Story tips!
1) START YOUR STORIES WITH A POLL
Polls are an easy way to drive interaction on your Instagram Stories. At the beginning of a series of posts or the day, use the poll to provide a chance for your followers to interact right away. I find that polls or questions often increase views on my following stories. This kind of interaction gets your community used to engaging with your account! Hopefully that leads to even more interactions on your page.
2) LET YOUR STORIES RUN OUT
The second tip I have is to let your stories run out. Stories stay on your profile for 24 hours. I’ve found that if I let them run out and then start fresh, I get more views. This is permission to not post every single day and see what happens! For whatever reason, that little break helps my audience reset and then boosts my next story… because they’ve been waiting or nothing is in the way of the new story.
3) TEASE FUTURE POSTS IN YOUR STORIES
Another great tip is to tease future posts or Reels in your stories. This tip will help both your Story views, because people want to see your sneak peeks and it will also help your post or Reel engagement because you’ve hyped up that post. One of my favorite ideas is to do a behind the scenes image in your stories and then share the final image in your post or Reels the next day!
4) MIX UP YOUR STORY TYPES
My next favorite strategy is to mix up the types of stories you share. By this, I mean try to avoid talking for 20 videos straight or sharing the same kind of content. Try to think about things from your community’s perspective and think about how you can keep things interesting. Use still photos, questions, talking videos, boomerangs, and so on. This helps keep things interesting and exciting for your followers. Instagram will like that you’re utilizing all of their features, too!
5) HAVE Q&A TIME WITH YOUR AUDIENCE
Tip #5 is an idea for you! I recommend having some Q & A time with your audience. This is a great way to get them to talk back and forth with you. There’s a few ways to approach this. Sometimes using a question box can be useful. If you’re a smaller brand, try really focusing on a specific topic so you can help generate more ideas from your audience. It helps them decide what to talk with you about!
6) LIMIT LINK STICKERS
Recently, Instagram released a new feature allowing us to add link stickers to our Stories. And I LOVE it. But, it can be easy to over-do it. Remember, you want to keep your followers on your account and on the platform. Be strategic about when you use the stickers so that you can keep this function’s use organic! Instagram wants people to stay in the app, so be mindful about how often you’re sending them out. This will help make sure you don’t get pushed to the back of the app.
7) LOOK BACK AT PAST STORY ANALYTICS
Take the time to look back at your past Stories and their analytics. You can review this data on the Insights tab of your account and I highly recommend that you actually take the time to do this. If you know what worked well in the past, you’ll be able to plan better for your audience. You can learn more about how to do that HERE.
8) ASK FOR THEIR OPINION
Tip #8 is to ask your audience’s opinion on something! You could use polls, the quizzes, or even the question box, but it’s a great and easy way to encourage your audience to interact with you. People LOVE to give their opinions, so definitely lean into that natural desire to provide opinions.
9) LINK TO NEW CONTENT + OFFERINGS
When you do use the link sticker as a brand/business, one of the smartest ways to encourage interaction is to link to new offerings and content. While I really do believe you don’t want to overdo using these links, this is a very strategic way to use the link button. Not only will this increase interactions in your Stories, but it will increase views on the content itself!
10) THINK OF YOUR STORIES AS… A STORY
At the end of the day, it’s important to remember that Instagram Stories are just that: a story. Consider how you can use the platform to show your audience what it’s like behind the scenes, what it’s like working with you, and how they can connect with you. I try to post stories like a “Series” that make more sense when you watch them all at once. It just flows better and helps my audience understand my brand a bit more.
For me, Instagram Stories are a way to connect with my audience on a more personal level. I think it’s a great way to show what life is like as a brand and business owner – and that really resonates with my audience.
