Today, I’m talking ALL about a topic you’ve been asking me about: how to have high video quality when creating an Instagram Reels, Tik Tok or other short form video like these. I’m going to give you my TOP tips for creating the highest video quality you can for these videos! These tips will be easy to follow and help you make sure that you can have high quality video on your channels with no stress!
Ideal Video Size
The first thing we should talk about is the size of these videos. In 2021, most short form video are 1080px x 1920px. This is the best starting base to remember when you’re creating new videos – especially if you create them outside the app. When you create Reels or Tik Toks, double check that your video is the right size to help make sure you have the highest quality!
Best Filming Setup
Let’s be real, about 90% of the videos you’re filming to share on Instagram Reels or Tik Tok are done on your phone. The first thing to do is to actually change the settings so your phone records higher quality video. Open your settings and scroll to the camera. Tap on “record video” and select 4K (as long as you have enough room on your phone!). If you don’t want to do that, at the very least, select 1080px HD if you can! You’d be amazed how much even this slight change can make the video quality better!
Once you’ve filmed a video on your phone, you can resize the video to fit those settings we talked about. Go to the video, hit the crop icon, and then in the top right corner select the squares and you’ll see options below. If you select 9:16, that’s the size you want it to be for Instagram Reels or Tik Toks!
Another thing to mention: filming right inside the app can be hugely helpful for the idea video size. Honestly, this will give you the best results – and is helpful if you’re doing certain trends or lip syncing. Because you’re building the video in the app, you may even see better results!
Avoid Resizing Too Much
Be mindful of how often you create and then download a post from Instagram Reels or Tik Tok. Every time that you download and re-post a video like this will diminish the quality. And it compounds the more that you download and share that video. Remember, you can download from Tik Tok without watermarks – but remember, every time you do this, the quality will diminish!
Quality Isn’t Perfect
This is just a reminder: at the end of the day, the apps are going to diminish your video’s quality. And we can’t really control that. If you feel like your videos are always a bad quality but you know you’re following the best practices, it’s not you! It’s the apps! Try not to stress about it. Instagram Reels and Tik Tok wants videos to load quickly for viewers and make the experience quick.
I absolutely love short form video marketing and I hope these tips will help give you high quality short form videos! These videos can be a great way to build your following and establish connections. I can’t wait to see what you create!!!
