How to Get Reviews for Your Wedding Photography Business

March 21, 2019

If you’re new to wedding photography, maybe you’re trying to figure out how to get reviews from your couples! This is something that’s really important to do early on in your business so you can start building credibility with potential clients.

Here are a few key things I do to get more wedding photography reviews from my clients:

  • Give them an amazing client experience. This almost goes without saying, but when you give your couples an amazing experience, they’re going to be MORE than happy to write you a review. In their minds, it’s something that’s SO small in comparison to how much you’ve served them! The better my client experience becomes the more I have couples at the end of THEIR wedding day raving about me and already asking where they can leave reviews. It really does work!!
  • I ask for a review one week after I deliver their full wedding gallery! Some photographers and business owners don’t ask for reviews at all, but I think it’s super powerful, totally okay, and a REALLY good idea for a few reasons:
    • Most of my couples that I ask give me a review, most of my couples that I don’t ask forget to leave a review! Their lives get busy and usually they’re happy you reminded them!
    • It allows you to ask that IF something about their experience wasn’t great, to let you know first! You NEED to have this funnel of asking if there was something they didn’t love… the last thing you want is to find out when they do post a not so great review! It’s a super smart business move to have this in your workflow because either they’re going to tell YOU if something wasn’t great, or tell several other people and maybe post about it online… neither of which you want to happen!
  • Another strategy you can use that works super well is to ask for reviews at the end of the year! I did this by asking for reviews on The Knot (to be nominated for the Knot Best of Weddings). So many people were so eager to give me a review to help me win, and it was so fun!! :)

Is there another strategy you use to get reviews? Let me know below!
