It’s been a good week on the blog reflecting back on 2017, first with the 2017 behind the scenes and then with the 2017 best of weddings! So excited to wrap it all up with the 2017 best of engagements. It’s been such a good year with the most engagement, sweetheart, and anniversary sessions yet!
I photographed a total of 22 engagement, anniversary, and sweetheart sessions this year, which has been more than I have ever done in one year! So exciting!! :) There are so many beautiful and amazing 2017, 2018, AND 2019 wedding couples in this post, it makes my heart so happy!! I went as far as Anchorage, Alaska and Roanoke, Virginia to capture engagements… but most of them happened right here in Columbus! So fun!
The first engagement of the year was with Ivana and Tim way back in February of 2017. These two were married in May of 2017 and it was such a JOY to be a part of their wedding experience! They are seriously one of the most genuine couples I have met. So fun to explore the Scioto Audubon and capture them! And this is also proof that winter can be SO beautiful! :) They were troopers sticking it out through the cold!
Allie and Brendan are next with their engagement session in March! We explored Hoover Dam, one of my favorite places to shoot. They are both friends of Michael and I and got married back in April of 2017! So fun to be a part of their love story and to see it all unfold. We have loved being a part of it, Michael was even a groomsmen at their wedding! :) We had the perfect spring day for their session! I think I love this photo so much because of all the stripes… one of my favorite things!!
I went down to Chillicothe for Abby & W.j.’s engagement session downtown, and it was so perfect! We had a beautiful day and I loved exploring this little town with them. Abby totally WOWED me when she came out in this tulle skirt, so naturally this is my FAVORITE! :) Their wedding was in October of 2017 and was just as beautiful. They are a sweet, sweet couple and I couldn’t be more excited to have been a part of their wedding experience!!
I did this session with Brittney and Josh at Goodale Park last minute, but oh was it worth it!! These trees only bloom for a week or two in April, so once they bloom, you have to go while you can! I believe I went 4 times in that one week… Haha! These two were just dating when this was taken, but they are now officially engaged!! :) Yay! Keep scrolling for their proposal!! I love the joy in this picture and all the pretty colors!
Lauren and Dave’s engagement session was so fun! It was the first time I met them in person and we instantly clicked. These fields at the Scioto Audubon are my favorite, especially during the summer! The glow is just gorgeous. I loved the pastel and neutral colors in their outfits, and I think I love this photo so much because of all the greenery around them!! :) These two were married in October of 2017 and their wedding day was nothing short of AMAZING!! Love these two!!
I also met these two for the first time at their engagement session, but we instantly felt like we had known them for forever! We headed to hocking hills for Ashley & Tyler’s engagement session and it was so much fun. We explored the trails and found this beautiful golden field! They were married in May of 2017 at the Amelita Mirolo barn. Their wedding day is definitely a favorite. Michael and I sincerely loved being a part of it and there aren’t enough words to express how grateful I am for their support in my business!!
This is my first destination engagement! Yay!!! We walked the trails around Anchorage, Alaska a couple days before Maria and Chad’s wedding In May of 2017. Their engagement session was so fun, it was great to catch up with Maria again and to meet Chad for the first time!! I am so grateful to have gone up there for their big day. Traveling is so fun, especially when it’s somewhere near and dear to your heart. :)
Jennifer & Brandon’s engagement was amazing, it was so hard to choose just one!! I also loved Jennifer’s first outfit, so I was really tempted to choose a photo from the beginning of their session. You’ll have to head to their post to check it out! ;) But this one became my favorite. There’s something about that glow and their gaze that I just love! We were able to capture this right before the sun hid behind the trees. I can’t wait for their wedding this May at Brookshire!!
Courtney & Brandon’s engagement session was so fun, their puppy stole my HEART!! Aussies are my favorite dogs so I just about melted when I saw it. Of course, I had to include it below :) I am so glad these two suggested going to Scioto Grove for their session, because it has the BEST sunset glow!! It has become a favorite spot of mine for sessions. Their wedding is this June at Crago Farms, I have been eagerly looking forward to it for months!! :)
Katrina and Andrew are the best!! They’re another couple I hadn’t met beforehand, but wow we felt like instant friends!! They are so laid back, down to earth, and photographing them was a breeze. I loved their engagement session at Sharon Woods, we had the PERFECT sunset that night! That summer glow is just to die for. Their wedding was in August at Maplewood Farms, it was such a beautiful summer country wedding on the farm!
I have been so lucky to have so many beautiful glowy sunsets!! Fan & Evan’s engagement session was another gorgeous late summer evening with the prettiest glow. These two were so fun to get to know, their wedding day was in October of 2017 at the Darby House. I love that venue, and these two! I also LOVE Fan’s dress, it was so gorgeous on her!!
Megan & Brent’s engagement session was SO FUN! I had never done an in home session before and it was beyond perfect. Their apartment at the Julian is just gorgeous, and has the best window light (I mean, look at how HUGE those windows are!! It’s amazing!) I loved getting to know these two. I can’t wait for their wedding in October this year! It’s going to be a good one!!
This one is technically an anniversary session… but I had to share! :) I loved hanging out with Hanna and Ian for some anniversary photos. It had been almost 10 years that they had been together. Hanna is a hair & makeup artist here in Columbus, she even did my own hair & makeup for my wedding! She is the first person I recommend to all my couples. We did some of their photos in Uptown Westerville, so of course, we had to make a stop at Java Central for their oh-so-amazing chai lattes.
Kimberly and Patrick’s engagement session is proof that rainy days can be JUST as beautiful!! :) These two below have to be a couple of my favorite portraits from their session. It’s no secret by now that I love the Scioto Audubon, haha! These two are so sweet and I can’t wait for their big day at the Estate at New Albany! I can’t wait to celebrate with them as they are married!!
Alright, so here is Brittney & Josh’s proposal! :) It was so fun to be in on this, Brittney had no idea it was going to happen that day! They basically had all the seasons the day he proposed… it snowed as they were walking out, rained half way through, then stopped raining later in the day. It was such a perfect day and it made it so memorable! So fun to see two of our friends get ENGAGED! I can’t wait to photograph their barn wedding this June!!
Oh I love these two!! They are such a beautiful and genuine couple. Kelly & Justin’s engagement session was so fun, I loved getting such a variety with them! There’s something about this photo below that really capture my attention. I think it’s the combination of the skyline, grassy fields, and how beautiful and snuggly they both are. Definite FAV! They’re getting married this October in Mansfield, Ohio and I cannot wait!!
Kristi & Harrison’s engagement session was SO FUN! These two came all the way up from Tennessee for it and it definitely didn’t disappoint. I loved meeting them, their joy truly radiates!! Their wedding is this May in Tennessee and I have to say, I’m pretty excited about that!! :) It’s going to be such a fun day! I can’t wait to celebrate with them!!
Shannon & Todd’s engagement was so unique and so FUN! We started in Pistacia Vera, a favorite coffee shop in German Village. It was the PERFECT place for their session!! Macarons and coffee (or in my case, chai lattes) are always a good idea. :) The ring shot of Shannon’s engagement ring is one of my favorites, so of course, I had to include it!! They are my first 2019 couple and I can’t WAIT for their day in June at the Estate at New Albany!!
This impromptu shoot was one of the BEST IDEAS ever!! I was so grateful when Olivia & Ethan agreed to climb to the top of a mountain with me for some gorgeous photos. My body was so sore, but it was SO worth it! I mean, just look at those views!! You definitely don’t get that in Ohio.
Sarah and Justin’s engagement was so fun, and I loved seeing all the fall colors come out!! Fall came a little late in 2017 but that meant these two had PEAK colors for their session! Just look at those trees, this photo will forever be a favorite fall photo. These two just moved to Ohio recently and I’m so excited to see where life takes them! :)
This is technically another anniversary session, BUT it was so fun, I had to include it! Plus, who doesn’t love cute puppies!! :) I loved hanging out with Maggie and Caleb and their adorable dog. This shot definitely became a favorite! these two recently got married and moved to Ohio. I loved getting to know them!
I wrapped up the 2017 engagement sessions with Presney and Ivon! They were also my last wedding of 2017, so fun!! They got married in December at the Westin, a few weeks after their engagement session. Since they both went to Ohio state, we of course had to stroll around campus for some photos! This is one of my favorite shots in front of the library. I love how the fall colors were still there too! What a fun and beautiful couple, it was such a joy to serve them!!
That’s a wrap! Cannot wait for what 2018 holds!!
