Launching an online course doesn’t have to be overwhelming! In this video, I’ll share my online course launch strategy that generated course launches ranging from $15,000 to $40,000 in just 10 days. If you’re ready to learn how to create a launch that works for your growing business, let’s dive in!
Step 1: Prime Your Audience
A successful course launch starts long before the actual launch week. The key is to prime your audience by consistently providing value. What we do not want to do is ramp up your efforts only a week or two before launch—and then totally ghost your audience once the launch ends. Here are some ways to prepare your audience for what’s coming:
- Show up consistently: Share content related to your course’s topic on social media and in your email marketing!
- Become the go-to expert: Offer free tips, share personal stories, and position yourself as a trusted resource in your niche.
- Create a strong runway: Spend 4–6 weeks leading up to your launch delivering valuable content based on your course topic!
For example, if your course focuses on nutrition for runners, share actionable advice and insights to establish your credibility in that area. When your audience thinks of those topics, your name should come to mind!
Step 2: Plan Your Launch Event
A live launch event is a great way to generate excitement and drive conversions. There are tons of creative options, like:
- Live webinars
- Live challenges
- Private pop-up podcasts
The goal is to build hype and create an urgency to buy around your offer. You might offer in a bonus to those who attend live! This is a great way to drive conversions. Schedule your event roughly a week before your launch starts, and use it to transition smoothly into sale week!
Step 3: Establish Deadlines and Urgency
Clear deadlines and urgency are huge factors to consider for a successful launch! Create a detailed structure for your launch, including:
- Specific launch dates: Plan your start and end dates, and stick to them!
- Incentives: Offer discounts, bonuses, or exclusive perks for early buyers.
- Consistent communication: Highlight key dates and incentives throughout your launch in your emails and on social media.
Step 4: Create and Schedule Content
Strategic content planning will help your launch week stay on track. Break it down into phases:
- Priming content: Deliver high-value content 4–6 weeks before the launch.
- Promotional content: Focus on promoting your live event 10 days before it starts.
- Sales content: Shift attention to your email list during launch week to drive conversions.
During launch week, prioritize email marketing over social media. Most conversions typically come from emails. Use social media to nurture your audience and stay top of mind (without being overly sales-y)
Step 5: Set Up Your Tech Stack
A well-organized tech stack simplifies your launch process. Make sure you have the following tools in place:
- Sales page hosting: Platforms like Kajabi can streamline your setup. Use my link to sign up for free!
- Email marketing platform: Use an ESP for your sales email campaigns. We love Flodesk! Use my link to start your free trial!
- Webinar hosting tools: Choose platforms that will work seamlessly with your sales funnel.
By organizing your tools and processes ahead of time, you can focus on executing your launch when it’s most important!
Bonus Tip: Work Ahead
One of the best ways to reduce stress during a launch is to work ahead. Aim to have your webinar slides, emails, and promotional materials ready at least 10 days before your launch. Early preparation allows you to focus on fine-tuning, plus, you want to actually enjoy the launch (rather than feeling totally overwhelmed), right?!
