Small business owners everywhere are trying to figure out exactly what all of this AI stuff is sand means for their business. Many are wondering how you can use it for your own business to see growth. We’re talking about just that in today’s podcast episode and YouTube video, specifically ChatGPT. I’m sharing exactly how I use ChatGPT for content creation and what it is, exactly, in simple terms. I’ll be sharing some ways you can use ChatGPT to show up for your business and save yourself time. Before we start, I do want to say that I’m not by any means a ChatGPT expert, so this is just my understanding and my own experience using ChatGPT. I hope you find it helpful, especially if you’re a beginner like me!

What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an AI tool that’s become really popular in the last few months. Essentially, it’s an AI language model that creates text content. If you ask ChatGPT a question, it will give you unique text back. From their website, it says: “We’ve trained a model called Chat GBT, which interacts in a conversational way, the dialogue format makes it possible for chat GPT to answer follow up questions, amid its mistakes, challenge incorrect premises and reject inappropriate requests.” Basically, it’s a computer program to answer questions, know when something’s wrong, and ask questions. It’s pretty cool. For business owners, we can use it to create content that’s written content for our business – like blogs, social media content, and emails. There’s so many ways to use ChatGPT to brainstorm or write for your business.
Something to note is that ChatGPT is really familiar with topics until about 2021. Anything in the last two years, it’s not as well-informed, so just be aware of that. There’s a free version you can use and also a paid version for $20/month, if you want to do that.
Best Practices for Using ChatGPT for Content Creation
The second thing I want to discuss is the best practices for using and understanding ChatGPT. ChatGPT is conversational, so it’s something you interact with. ChatGPT works really well-off conversations. So, if you’re trying to create something based off a prompt, you could say “give me an email for a client who wants a refund”. Then you can take ChatGPT’s answer and modify as needed to meet your brand’s style. You could also ask it to give you 10 ideas for a specific topic. But, ChatGPT can modify it’s work – so you can say you want something to be more upbeat, and it will update it. It’s just learning how to ask for what you need from ChatGPT.
Something I’ve found really helpful when using ChatGPT as a content creator is building ideas for content. For example, I’ll ask it to give me 5 ideas for a YouTube video about growing your business on Instagram. Then I can ask it to turn it into an outline. After that, I could ask it to remove tips about hashtags – since I’ve done a video on that. I can also then ask ChatGPT for Instagram captions related to it. But, it’s neat because it remembers what you’re talking about and gives you those follow up responses. Don’t be afraid to get specific and remember, it doesn’t understand sarcasm or irony. It’s very direct and specific.
Remember that you can adjust whatever it gives you for your brand voice – and you should. But, you can also ask ChatGPT to write in a specific tone (upbeat, etc.) or even like a celebrity! There’s lots of ways to make whatever ChatGPT spits out fit your brand. The max response is 3,000 words so if you want something longer, you just have to ask it to keep going. But yeah, I think that’s cool to know. Additionally, if you don’t like what ChatGPT has given you, you can regenerate a response, which is a pretty handy feature.
How to use ChatGPT for Content Creation
Here at Stephanie Kase Education, we teach you about how to grow your brand online with content creation. Recently, we’ve been using ChatGPT to help us create our content. I think that ChatGPT is a great way to brainstorm possible topics for your content. I recommend using the outlines ChatGPT can create as a baseline or starting place. You can go from there to make it your own, but it eliminates that decision of what to create or staring at a blinking cursor because you can’t figure out what to write. ChatGPT can help you create things more quickly, so you can get back to whatever you need to do to run your business or the things you want to be doing.
For example, I asked ChatGPT to help me make an outline for the videos I filmed today. I immediately took them and tweaked them to make me my own. That’s where I add my own unique creative genius. You could also use ChatGPT to help write an Instagram caption that then relates to that outline/video. ChatGPT could help write a blog post, but I don’t recommend just copying and pasting. You need to put ChatGPT’s response into your own brand voice. Basically, ChatGPT is helping to do some of that research for you.
How We’re Using ChatGPT in the SK Brand
I’ve mentioned that we’ve used ChatGPT for outlines. That’s mostly our focus – using ChatGPT to generate ideas and create outlines. I haven’t experimented with other options too much yet. We have used ChatGPT to generate some sales emails. It was helpful to give me a first draft!
Final Thoughts on AI and ChatGPT
Before we wrap up, I want to share my own thoughts on ChatGPT and AI. People worry that ChatGPT and AI will make jobs obsolete. There’s a lot of implications to using these softwares. And I obviously feel they’re useful tools to use. But, we’re still learning about them. There are things we don’t know yet – like copyright. Especially if someone takes the words directly from ChatGPT and posts them as their own. We dn’t know what that’s going to look like yet. At the end of the day, this is an AI tool – not a human.
I think that AI will change some jobs. There are some great tools being developed but it’s about being able to take the work and making it your own to move your business forward. I think AI and ChatGPT will help business owners brainstorm and create new ideas to save hours. So again, take it as a starting base and put your own spin on it.
Sometimes when it comes to this technology, I feel like a grandma. I’m only 26 but there’s stuff that’s so new to me. I’m constantly reading up on it and trying to understand what it all means. So, I hope that this video was helpful in explaining what I understand of ChatGPT. We’ll keep you updated as the software continues to evolve, but I hope this helped explain how to use ChatGPT for your business!
