A couple weeks ago, Michael and I had the opportunity to make a trip up to Alaska! I used to live there for eight years, but I haven’t been back since I moved away four years ago. My friend, Maria, reached out to me last year about photographing her wedding in Anchorage… and I about died. Ever since then, I’ve been eagerly awaiting going back for months!!
I was definitely EXCITED, to say the least!! Michael had never been before, so I was really looking forward to showing him all the amazing things it has to offer. We were able to do so much while we were there! The first few days was mainly filled with fun wedding things, like Maria & Chad’s engagement session and their wedding rehearsal, and their actual wedding! But we were also able to do some fun things around town, like biking along the Coastal Trail and walking around downtown eating reindeer dogs. :)
After the wedding, we made our way to Hatcher Pass. They apparently just had a blizzard there a few days before (yes, in May), so everything was covered with snow! It was absolutely stunning!! We also went down south towards Seward, stopping at Exit glacier before exploring the Alaska Sea Life Center. It was so fun to go back and do all of these things again, since I used to go so often when I was in middle school and high school! :) We went camping at Denali National Park for one night with a few friends, and that was one of the best parts! We were able to take a fun hike, see the sled dogs, and walk around the visitor enter. We ended our trip with a hike up Flattop, one of Alaska’s most popular hikes located in Anchorage. The view is the BEST, overlooking the whole city of Anchorage!
First are some iPhone photos I snapped during our first few days!
Hatcher Pass!! It was so beautiful, and still covered with snow, even though it was around 60 degrees!
Can anyone spot Michael in the photo below?! :)

Baby moose! Oh my goodness, they were ADORABLE!! Michael was able to grab these awesome shots because of how tall he is :)
SO CUTE!!
Our day trip to Seward! The views alone were worth it. :)
Exit Glacier! Crazy thing is, the last time I was here 5 years ago, the ice was right next to where we were standing! It’s retreated so far back, it’s crazy!!
My cutie :)
Flattop! The view is incredible, overlooking the whole city of Anchorage!
With Natalie! She is coming to Ohio in just a few weeks to be one of my bridesmaids. It made saying goodbye (just a little bit) easier. :)
