If you’ve been wondering whether AI is actually worth using in your business — this blog post is for you. In today’s video, I’m sharing how AI has literally saved me hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars this year alone. We’ll dive into what’s working for me, how I’m using AI in very custom ways, and why I believe this is one of the most powerful tools online business owners can be taking advantage of right now.

The Real-Life Impact of Custom AI in My Business
Let’s rewind to the beginning of this year — because if you told me I’d be running my business almost entirely solo and still keeping things running smoothly, I would’ve laughed. But that’s exactly what happened. Aside from two contractors (one for accounting and one for video editing occasionally), I’ve been doing the day-to-day of my business on my own.
And guess what? I’m still working part-time hours — around 20 hours per week — while running a multiple six-figure business through courses, digital products, and affiliate marketing. That shift didn’t come from working harder. It came from working smarter — specifically by creating and implementing custom AI assistants that are tailored to my brand, my content, and how I run things behind the scenes.
Beyond ChatGPT Prompts: Custom AI That Knows You
Now, I know AI isn’t new — and most business owners have dabbled in tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude. Maybe you’ve used them to write a quick Instagram caption or brainstorm ideas. But here’s where things get exciting: I’m not just using AI for random tasks. I’ve built custom AI assistants that understand my brand, my tone, and the way I do things.
This goes way beyond basic prompts.
I’ve created my own GPTs within ChatGPT (you do need a Pro plan — $20/month and so worth it), and I’ve done the same inside Claude with their “projects” feature. These assistants have specific jobs — like turning my YouTube transcripts into blog posts, writing emails that sound like me, and helping me with content ideas that are actually aligned with my brand.
And the reason they work? Because they are backed by real knowledge and instruction I’ve trained them with — including my full 75-page brand guide, product details, writing style examples, phrase preferences, and even what not to say.
Creating a Custom AI Assistant: Here’s What That Looks Like
If you’re curious about how this works behind the scenes, here’s a little sneak peek.
Inside ChatGPT, when creating a new GPT, I build it from scratch using the “Configure” button. I write clear instructions for how it should behave — everything from what its role is, what tasks it should handle, to how it should format outputs. Then I upload detailed knowledge files — like my brand book, writing guides, blog templates, and example emails.
That’s the magic combo.
Your AI assistant is no longer guessing what your tone or style is — it’s actually referencing your specific brand and systems. In Claude, it’s a very similar setup with “projects,” which I also use often — especially for writing tasks, since Claude tends to sound a little less robotic.
I even include lists of AI phrases to avoid — you know the ones that sound super generic and overused? Those are completely out of my content thanks to this training.
A Few Real-World Examples of How I Use Custom AI
Let’s make this practical. Here are just a few ways I’ve used my custom GPTs and Claude projects lately:
- Writing emails: I can literally draft a newsletter while nursing my baby — straight from my phone. I give it a few notes or a brain dump, and it returns a full email in my voice, backed by 14+ knowledge files.
- Turning videos into blog posts: With a trained GPT, I just drop in a YouTube transcript, and it turns it into a full blog post that’s SEO optimized and on-brand. No back-and-forth prompting. Just a solid first draft I can quickly edit and publish.
- Creating course support bots: I’ve built chat assistants inside my online courses that are trained on lesson transcripts, templates, and FAQs. Students can get help instantly, 24/7, with guidance pulled directly from the course content.
And yes — this tech can even be used internally by your team, like referencing SOPs or helping streamline customer support.
Why This Matters Right Now
AI isn’t just a trend — it’s becoming essential. But here’s the thing: if you’re just using ChatGPT to write an occasional caption, you’re only scratching the surface. The real magic happens when you tailor AI to you — your brand, your voice, your way of doing things.
I truly believe the business owners who implement this kind of AI well are going to pull ahead — fast. Not just because it saves time, but because it helps you stand out. Your content feels personal, not robotic. Your systems are streamlined. And you actually get your time back while still moving your business forward.
Custom AI is not about replacing your creativity — it’s about elevating it.
