Why You Need Both Timely and Evergreen Content in Your Marketing

Timely and evergreen content both play an important role in marketing your business.

Timely Content

Timely content has a short shelf life. It normally circulates an app from 24 to 48 hours. Timely content is not search-optimized, but it will reach an audience faster than evergreen content. A positive component of timely content is that it’s usually easier to create. A good example of timely content is Instagram reels or stories.

Evergreen Content

Evergreen content has a longer lifespan. It’s normally search-optimized and stays relevant for months or years after posting. Evergreen content requires more time & energy to produce but works more in the long run. 

Evergreen content is often long-form, which might include YouTube, podcasts, blogging and more.

Long-Form Content

YouTube is a huge one for me! I have videos from years ago that are still bringing new leads to my business regularly. It’s a great way to promote freebies and paid offers without having to show up on the platform daily.

Blogging is another great option! We repurpose our YouTube videos and podcast episodes into blog posts, but you can also write informational and entertaining blog posts without either of those things!

Using Multiple Types of Content

I want to point out that it’s important to have BOTH timely and evergreen content mapped out for your business. You need evergreen content to continuously introduce your offers and freebies to your audience. At the same time, you need timely content when you launch a new product or freebie, when you promote a webinar, or when you promote a sale!

Your Email List

Your email list is another important type of timely content! You can reach YOUR people really fast. You own your subscribers and you aren’t answering to an algorithm.
