Have you ever thought about how to safe-proof your business from always needing you? This is an important element in building a sustainable business. It’s not a matter of “if” you will need to step back from your business, but when.

Let’s get into how to safe-proof your business from always needing you. There are five different things I want to suggest for preparing your business to run smoothly without you.
Your Marketing Plan
What is your plan for obtaining new leads? Are your marketing funnels set up? How do you deliver your offers? Set your marketing and sales workflows up so that you can hand it over to someone and they can run them without you.
Marketing Platforms
Do you need to physically show up to market your business, or do you have other systems in place? As much as we love Instagram, it requires you or a team member to be present & post almost every day. Oppositely, platforms like YouTube or podcasts can be pre-scheduled more effectively, and are more evergreen by nature. These pieces of content circulate and work for your business for months or years rather than days.
Workflows
Have systems & workflows in place for every major function of your business. Make it clear & easy for someone else to understand. This includes your marketing, your support approach, how to deliver your offers, email templates and more.
Diversify
Consider your offer suite and its different price points. Also consider how you can offer products that do not require you to be delivered. This might look like digital products, downloads or an online course. Create different streams of revenue within the products you offer.
Hire
As your business grows, it becomes more important to delegate. Let your team members have ownership of their responsibilities so that you’re not the bottleneck in the process. Learn to let go of your tasks and hand them off to trusted team members. This means that you need to be heavily involved in their training and helping to create systems that produce exactly what you want. As time goes on, they should get full ownership of their role.
Free Gift
By the way, I have a download called the SK Business Guide Template! It’s completely free. The template is in Trello, and it’s a copy of how I organize my marketing plan, workflows and many other details of my business.
Next week, we’ll talk about my weekly routine as a mom & business owner and what that has looked like in different stages of motherhood. See you next week at 7 AM!
