Are you looking to grow an Instagram account in 2024? You’re in the right place! In this video, I’ll outline what strategies I would use to find new followers, what content I would focus on, and what tools would help me the MOST in my journey. Let’s create your Instagram growth strategy in 2024!
Plan How to Monetize
The first thing to decide is how you will monetize your account. Your end goal determines how you position yourself on the app. For example, if you plan to sell digital products and services, you will begin with creating your email list and growing it as much as you can. Additionally, you will put systems in place to pitch your products as your following grows.
I recommend using Flodesk – my favorite Email Service Provider! Click here to get a 30-day free trial and 50% off of your first year.
Alternatively, you might want to get sponsorships and lean into the influencer world. Consider beginning with gifted campaigns or affiliate programs. Creating and sharing those links early will have a huge impact on your account.
Serving & Selling
The second part of your Instagram growth strategy in 2024 is to think about serving and selling daily. Serve, meaning to give valuable content, build a human connection, and create a personal brand with everything you share. This should go hand-in-hand with selling. Organically share your offers that make sense on your account and will make money. If you only ever serve without pitching offers, your audience will not be used to selling, and they will not convert well.
Selling does not have to look direct. Instead, share behind-the-scenes content of product creations, reviews, testimonials, or messages from customers. Build a following of people who expect you to share your offers to create an audience that converts.
Lean into Reels
Part three of your Instagram growth strategy in 2024 is to lean into reels. Reels are the best way to attract new followers to your account. Try my 10 Free Reels Ideas – a free download that includes the exact text boxes, calls to action, and hooks you need to begin creating reels.
On Instagram, you will go through seasons of growth and seasons of nurturing your audience (a concept I discuss in my course, Instagram Growth). When starting, it’s important to focus on growing, and reels are the best way to become visible on Instagram.
Reels will be shown primarily to a cold audience, or people who are not familiar with your account. Consider what those new users will see in your content as it relates to your niche. Will they get a good sense of what your business is and who you serve?
Create reels with the idea that brand new people will be watching them in mind. It’s not the place to make a hard pitch or try to convert someone immediately into a customer. Instead, it’s where you acquire a new follower that you can nurture and eventually sell to in an organic way.

Useful Tools
Now, let’s talk about the technical tools and programs that will help you create engaging Instagram content.
Account Type
First, set your Instagram account as a “creator” account. You have the choice to use a personal, business, or creator account. Personal accounts do not have access to professional features. Business accounts DO have professional capabilities but do not have access to popular music. Creator accounts have access to both!
Content Creation Equipment
Second, you need a smartphone tripod. It’s affordable and easy to use. This is the tool I use to record both my b-roll style content and face-to-camera content.
Also, consider getting a microphone! My favorite is the Rode Video Mic Me. It’s available with a lightning port or a USB-C port. It’s a simple microphone that plugs directly into your phone. I use this microphone to record stories or other face-to-camera content because it elevates the quality of the content so much. It’s fairly affordable and versatile (you could use it to film for YouTube, too)!
Most Loved Program
Third, I recommend using Canva! Canva is a user-friendly way to create amazing graphics. This could include cover photos for your reels (we offer cover photo templates here). It could also include story graphics or feed post graphics. I describe it as easy Photoshop!
