My Weekly Routine as a Busy Mom & Entrepreneur

July 23, 2024

In this episode, I’ll talk about my routine as a busy mom & entrepreneur. Additionally, I’ll elaborate on how that routine has changed as I have transitioned through different phases of motherhood.

Before we jump in, I want to mention that creating & selling online courses are a huge way that I get my time back as a mom. If you have any interest in launching a course, I urge you to check out my Free Launch Timeline! The download gives you an overview of the entire process, phases, strategy and how to do it all in just a few months.

My Work Schedule

Since 2021, when I became pregnant with my twins, I have regularly worked 20 hours per week. This can fluctuate lower or higher. My team is a big reason that I’m able to keep my work hours as low as 20 per week.

One thing that has helped me a lot as a busy mom & entrepreneur is to work in blocks. Typically, this looks like working on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM with a lunch break. My husband watches our kids on those days. I call Tuesdays and Thursdays my “Mom Days,” and I get to focus all of my attention on the kids all day.

Mom Days

Even on “Mom Days,” I still respond to my team on Slack or post on Instagram stories. These are tasks that are easy to do during small, in-between moments. When my twins were much younger and nursing more often, I worked every day for short periods. I quickly realized having longer work days worked better for me and suited our entire family better.

Adapting My Routine

This system changed in 2024. We moved into a house that had mold, and quickly had to relocate. Relocating turned into house hunting and, all the while, navigating some health issues. Now, I’m at the end of my second pregnancy and have recently settled into a new house. In this season, we are not able to make my office days work quite as well.

Flexibility & Work Windows

Because I haven’t been able to set regular hours, I have gotten good at finding pockets of time to get work done. I may not be able to work a full eight hours, but when I find one hour here or there, I buckle down and get things done.

This reminds me of when my twins were first born, my husband still worked and the twins were much more hands-on. I had to be very strategic about how much time I could get and what I could get done. I learned a lot about the importance of flexibility in both my family and my work.

That’s one of the best parts about running your own business. You have the privilege of creating a schedule that serves you and your family well. I try to keep my weekly schedule consistent, and I rarely allow myself to work on weekends. This consistent schedule management has helped me a lot as a busy mom & entrepreneur!

Weekly Planning Templates

By the way, you can see exactly how I plan my weekly schedule here! I use this Weekly Planning Template that I created. I have used this same template for years to keep track of my work, appointments, commitments and meetings. It’s only $7 in the SK shop, and I hope you take a look!

See You Next Week

Next week’s episode will be about hiring your first team member. See you next week at 7 AM!
