A life update is long overdue, things have just been a little slow around here! Besides wedding season coming to a close in December (with no more until the end of April), I’ve been taking the past couple of months to slow down, rest, and rejuvenate for the busy season ahead. Rest is not an easy thing for me. I always like to be busy and have things to do. But lately, I’ve been realizing how important is is to slow down and rest, and to realize it’s okay if I’m not going 24/7. It’s been awesome seeing what God has been showing me and working through me in the past couple of months… things that I’m to busy running around to see during the summer and fall!
Here are a few big (and small) things that have been going on and things I’ve been loving in the past month or so:
- I changed my business name from “Stephanie Brann Photography” to “Stephanie Kase Photography!” If you missed the update, you can read about it here. Also, here’s the blog post about why I changed my business name. I love my new name and am so excited I changed it!
- I began going through my Powersheets from Cultivate What Matters in December, and it’s been seriously a game changer in the way I look at my days (let’s face it, my whole year!!). They basically take your goals for your year (and life) and help you to break it down into actionable steps for every month to accomplish those goals. There are sheets you go through at the beginning of the year that’s basically an overlook of the year to come as a whole. Then, you have sheets you go through for each month at the beginning of every month. Finally, there are also some sheets you go through for each quarter of the year. It sounds like a lot, but it really is so helpful in walking you through what is important in your life and prioritizing those things. While also getting things done. It’s amazing.
- I might be slightly obsessed with Rifle Paper Co. as of late. I bought a 2018 calendar (I don’t even use paper calendars?!) and bought their new stamps. OH MY GOODNESS. Everything they create is just all the floral happy gold goodness. If you’ve never heard of this beautiful company, please click over to it to see what I’m talking about!
- Like I mentioned, God has been teaching me so much about rest in this season. There are some weeks I don’t get as much “done” as I would normally like to, and I’ve realized that is OKAY. My business isn’t going to crumble because I forget to post on Instagram every day, or don’t have the time or energy to create more content. I’ve realized that I need to take care of myself, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically before I can take care of my clients- and take care of them well. I’ve been investing way more time into the people around me and digging deeper into my relationship with God. It’s not always easy for me to prioritize this (it’s way easier for me to get on my laptop and work), but it’s what truly refreshes me and fills my soul. And I want more of THAT. I’m nowhere near perfect at it yet, but I’m excited to continue to grow in this area.
- This past Sunday, I went to my dear friend Audrey’s bridal shower! It was so fun to shower her as the bride-to-be and to see my friend as she heads towards marriage. AHH! I’m so excited for her and I can’t wait to meet Marlon. They have the most amazing story, I can’t wait to share more about them soon (I’ll be photographing their big day!!) :)
- I started taking yoga at the beginning of this year! I’ve taken a few classes in the past, but took a long break from it for a couple of years. It’s been interesting because it’s more a relaxation yoga (I’ve only taken more fast-paced yoga classes in the past, like flow yoga). I’ve honestly really loved it though. There’ something about learning to clear your mind and relax yourself that is so refreshing!!
- I also had a promo vide made for my business! AHH! I just got it back this past week and I simply LOVE IT. It’s amazing. If you haven’t seen it yet, head on over to this blog post for all the details!! Another photographer came to film it and took some photos of Michael and I while she was here filming, I loved seeing her darker moody style and how she captures us. Kelsie of Kelsie Lynn Photography also took a bunch of us (while taking my new headshots). I am so grateful for talented friends who take beautiful photos of us in our new home!! What a gift!
- I’m so excited winter is coming to an end. I don’t do well with the cold, there’s something about it that just makes me want to stay inside and hermit all day long. Last week there was a beautiful day where it was 70 degrees. 70!! And there was some amazing sunshine! It really lifted my spirits, Michael and I took advantage of the warm weather and walked to Condado’s for some yummy tacos. I can’t wait for the warm spring weather ahead!
