Hello friends!! If you know me, you know that details are one of my FAVORITE things to photograph! I absolutely love shooting pretty rings, shoes, invites, and everything in between! I also love taking “styled” photos for myself for my website and social media. One of the newest things I’ve added to my collection of things for shooting details with is a marble styling board. It has such a classy look to it and I LOVE it! And the best part, is it’s so easy to make and it’s super inexpensive… and you don’t have to buy real marble! :) So let’s get started!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Marble Vinyl. I bought mine on Amazon (here’s the one I purchased!) and it is perfect for this! It’s sticky on one side (like tape) so it makes it really easy to create this board with.
- Foam Board (approximately 22″x28″ in size). Head to your local craft store (like Joanns, Michaels, or Hobby Lobby) and pick one up! This one HERE at Joanns is similar to the one I used. They are super duper cheap. $4 is worth it. :) I also found one similar on AMAZON, but it’s a little pricier at $13 (I guess it depends on how lazy you’re feeling, ha!)
- Scissors. Everyone should have a pair of these handy. :)
Alright, so once you have all of these things, the actual putting it together is actually really simple! The vinyl I’ve linked to above is already almost the perfect width for a 22″x28″ foam board. All you have to do is cut a piece that is about 28″ in length, and maybe trim the width a little to fit on the board.. Then, peel the part off the back to stick it right onto the foam board! The back of the vinyl is basically like tap, and sticks right to the board (super awesome). It’s super simple! Now you have a wonderful board you can use to style details, that looks like marble, but isn’t actually marble. It’s looks super fancy.
Here are a few photos of how I’ve used it so far:
So much fun! Let me know down in the comments below if you have any questions!! :) Enjoy!
