What Actually Keeps Me Going… Even When I Want to Quit

June 25, 2025

Running an online business sounds like a dream — and in so many ways, it is. But what most people don’t talk about is just how many moments come with the desire to quit. In this week’s video, I’m sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the hardest seasons in my business, and what actually keeps me going when I’ve seriously wanted to give it all up.

If you’ve ever felt like walking away from your business, this post is for you.

There have been so many moments over the past 10 years where I’ve genuinely considered quitting. I’ve had seasons where I was burnt out, discouraged, and questioning why I ever started. Like the time in 2021 when I had a negative cash month and lost thousands of dollars on a business investment – I felt completely lost. But through it all, I’ve learned what really makes the difference in whether I keep going or call it quits.

These are the five things I always come back to.

1. A “Delusional” Belief in Myself

One of the most powerful mindset shifts I’ve made is choosing to believe in myself – even when it feels a little delusional. I go back to that version of me in 2020 who launched her first online course with full confidence that it was the best thing ever. I believed every single person needed it. That kind of belief made me show up differently.

Now, five years later, it’s easy to think things should just flow without effort. But I’ve realized I need to work just as hard now, and keep that same fiery belief in what I offer. It’s not about ego. It’s about unwavering confidence that I’m the best person for my people, and that what I create truly matters.

2. Remembering My God-Given Purpose

When I think about quitting, I always come back to this truth: I was created for this. God gave me specific gifts, talents, and a way of connecting with people. So why would I waste that? Why would I shrink back when things get hard?

Believing that I was called to this business changes everything. It helps me push through the hard days because I know there’s purpose in what I’m doing. It’s not just about making money. It’s about stewarding what God has given me and showing up for the people I’m meant to serve.

3. Surrounding Myself With the Right Women

There’s nothing more powerful than having other women in your corner who are also doing the thing. Whether it’s been through masterminds or local business connections, I’ve had seasons where I’ve built relationships with incredible women who genuinely cheer me on.

Being in spaces without jealousy, where we can share wins freely and support each other fully, has changed the game for me. When I see other women growing and succeeding, it doesn’t discourage me… it inspires me. Their success shows me what’s possible and reminds me that I can do it too!

4. Checking the Actual Stats (Not Just the Feelings)

Feelings can lie. It’s easy to spiral and feel like nothing is working. But instead of making decisions based on emotions, I’ve learned to go back to the data.

Looking at revenue, profit, platform stats, and even the number of hours I’m working helps me get grounded. I’ve had months where I felt like I was drowning – only to see that I was actually having one of my best months financially. Your feelings aren’t always telling the truth. When you look at the facts, you’ll often find that you’re doing better than you think.

5. Pure Dedication and Resilience

Business is not easy. It takes grit. It takes commitment. And it takes deciding ahead of time that you’re not going to quit.

There’s a reason most businesses don’t make it past five years. It’s because stuff gets hard – not if, but when. Whether it’s a dip in revenue, getting negative feedback, or dealing with tough team dynamics, hard things will happen. But what makes the difference is how you respond. Are you committed to the long-term vision even when it’s not fun?

People sometimes say I’m “lucky” to run my business full time or work from home with my husband. But behind the scenes, my “luck” has looked like 10 years of hard work, hundreds of YouTube videos, thousands of Instagram posts, late nights, and so many moments where I kept going when it would’ve been easier to give up.

Final Thoughts

If you’re in a season where it feels hard (like really, really hard) I want you to know you’re not alone. Every successful business owner you admire has had those same moments. And the longer you’re in this, the more you’ll experience them. But you’re not doing something wrong. You’re building something meaningful.

Keep going. Keep showing up. Go back to the reasons why you started. You’ve got this.

Thanks for watching this video about what actually keeps me going!
