Today I’m sharing a super fast and easy tutorial about how to repost your Instagram Reels to Tik Tok! We’ll go over how to do this in two different ways. First, will be saving them to your Reels drafts and uploading them to Tik Tok. This is the preferred way because you have more flexibility! But, I know that’s not always possible. So, I’ll also show you how to take an already posted Reel and share that to Tik Tok, too! Let’s get started. I promise, both methods are SUPER easy! 

FROM REELS DRAFTS 

Like I mentioned, sharing a Reel from your drafts is the preferred method. When you do this, you have more flexibility! I like to download them before I add any text because I want to add that natively in Tik Tok. So, navigate to your Reels drafts on the Instagram app and open a Reel that doesn’t have any text yet. Seriously, this is my number one tip: save it BEFORE you add text. If you’re on the edit screen and there’s text, I highly recommend deleting it then saving it to your camera roll. You can always go back and add text again on Instagram. Once your video is ready, hit the down arrow at the top of the screen. Remember, if you’re using someone else’s audio, it will not download with audio. 

If you’re wondering why I always say to download without text: remember that you want each video you share online to feel as native to that particular platform as possible. There’s different text options in Tik Tok than IG. So, you want to use those on your videos, not just copy and paste from Reels. The same goes for the audio! It’s not a huge deal to download without the sound because you’ll want to find the same audio ON Tik Tok as well. 

Once you go to Tik Tok, hit “upload” and then tap on the video you saved. Now, you can continue editing your Tik Tok video. It’s really as easy as that! 

FROM AN ALREADY POSTED REEL

Now, if you have a Reel that’s already done but you want to share it to Tik Tok, you’ll do things a little bit differently. Navigate to the already posted Reel that you want to share on Tik Tok and hit the three dots on the bottom right hand corner. Then hit “Save to Camera Roll”. Super easy, right? The only thing to be aware of is that it will add a watermark to the bottom of your video. Once it’s downloaded, go to your camera roll and then you can easily crop out the watermark.

Usually, the bottom part of the Reel shouldn’t matter anyway! I teach this in m courses: you want to keep your text and the important part of your video in the middle section of your Reel. So it shouldn’t be a big deal to crop it out! The only other thing to watch for is the dimensions of your video. When you’re cropping out the watermark, hit the multiple boxes in the upper right hand corner. This will open up the sizes. Select 9:16 to ensure your video is the right size for Tik Tok! 

Once that’s done, you’re ready to load it to Tik Tok. It’s the same process as before. Don’t forget to search for the original audio, too! After the video is loaded into the Tik Tok editor, hit “next” and you can begin to add text natively in Tik Tok. I prefer to cover up my text from the Reel with text from Tik Tok. Again, I think it helps to design content for each platform. Just place it over your Reels text and you’ll be good to go!
