Get ready for one of the longest blog posts EVER!! And for good reason! Oh my goodness, where do I even start? There are so many things I love about Harrison and Kristi! Their wedding at Houston Station in Nashville, Tennessee was seriously a DREAM! Not just because the venue was gorgeous, but because of an even more beautiful couple – inside and out. They are so genuine, sweet, thoughtful, and wow, what a POWER couple they are together!! God has worked so wonderfully in their story and bringing them together, and that was so evident from the first time I chatted with them both!!
When Kristi first reached out to me about photographing their wedding, she immediately mentioned how they both love the Lord and want someone who does too because they want to be able to connect with them in a deeper way on their wedding day. I knew they were going to be an amazing couple with just those words, because it is simply SO TRUE! There is so much meaning and depth to a wedding that’s focused on Christ and their ceremony was nothing short of that!! They did foot washing (it was incredibly hard to keep the tears back, because my husband Michael and I did foot washing at our wedding as well). The message was given by their camp director, a camp that played a huge role in their story. They met at this Christian summer camp way back when they were 16 years old. But much to Harrison’s dismay, Kristi friend-zoned him that summer… however, in the months following, they kept in touch with a few visits and FaceTime’s here and there.
Fast forward a couple of years, and the summer before they both were headed off to college, they both signed up (yet again) to help on the kitchen crew at the same camp they met a couple years prior, doing the exact same thing where they first became friends! After a couple weeks of being reunited, Harrison leaped at the opportunity to tell Kristi how he felt, and how he couldn’t get her off his mind for the past couple of years. He wrote a powerful, heart-felt letter to Kristi sharing all of his feelings for her and, most importantly, that he felt God was leading them to start dating. This time, he didn’t end up in the friend-zone! Regardless of the fact they were about to head off to two different in completely different states, they pursued each other through it all.
Harrison proposed to Kristi last year while they were on a summer vacation with their family on Lake Michigan. After her parent’s announced a “photographer” was coming to take photos, they all got dressed up to “take photos,” unknowingly to Kristi that this was just a way to get her to dress up. Harrison suggested they go on a walk, so they went out onto the beach, where Harrison presented Kristi with a sweet book filled with photos telling their story. At the very end, the last page said “Kristi Troutman, will you marry me?” Kristi, of course, said yes, and was freaking out, and little did she know that HIS family was also there to celebrate!!
Their love for Jesus and how they want to pursue Christ in their lives is seen so clearly in these two which made all the more of a joy to be a part of their wedding day, the day they became husband and WIFE! Their thoughtfulness and gratefulness was shown over and over again while spending time with them, before their wedding and on their big day. They are truly LOVED by so many! What an honor it was to travel down to Nashville to celebrate with these two and their family and friends!
Kristi and Harrison, ENJOY these favorites from your wedding day!! Get ready for SO MANY, because it’s long… but oh, it’s so, SO GOOD! I just couldn’t narrow it down anymore because there are so many favorites from your day! :) Congratulations, newlyweds!!
