Behind the Scenes 2018

December 26, 2018

Today I’m sharing one of the most hilarious and entertaining blog posts of the year… behind the scenes! I’m sharing some photos of what goes on behind the scenes of shooting weddings. If you were one of my couples this year, you just might see yourself in this blog post! :)

A few key thoughts from going through these photos:

  • Jumpsuits were definitely a fav this year! I am so glad these came in style because they are SO COMFORTABLE. I actually love wearing dresses to weddings and getting dressed up, and I hate wearing pants… but jumpsuits are that sweet in-between where you look super classy but are SO COMFY and you can move around with so much *freedom*. It’s the best! Some of my favorite places to buy them are Loft, Gap, and Roolee!
  • Also… WOW my hair’s getting long! I have contemplated cutting it short again but it took SO LONG to get it this long, and it looks so good… looking back at these photos has me convinced I need to keep it long for awhile, haha!
  • If you make it all the way to the bottom, I reward you with some really embarrassing (but hilarious) photos of me. ;)
  • I am SO grateful to each and every one of my couples! I seriously mean it, my business wouldn’t be where it is without every one of you. SO MUCH love for you all! <3

Thank you to all of my second shooters and assistants for taking these photos for me, including my husband Michael Kase, Monica Ebbing, Michelle Staley, Kelsie Anderson, Tristan Handley, Katelynn Dow, and Paige Hough!k

First up, one of my favorite venues: The Estate at New Albany (Kimberly and Patrick’s beautiful wedding day!)

Kristi and Harrison in Nashville, Tennessee! I love these two!!

I love chatting it up with the groomsmen before we start! And trust me, I am SPEEDY with getting those photos done!!

Golden hour… MY FAVORITE!

Michael helping me get that veil shot!

When I arrive at your wedding, I usually look something like this… (yes, it is necessary to have all of this on me. Yes, I am a chronic overpacked but I consider it a strength because I am prepared for ANYTHING).

Teaching them how to pop that leg! Makes a world of difference!!

Me and my hubby! Thanks Monica for grabbing this of us! I love it so much!!

Even Michael knows how to fluff the dress! What an amazing guy!!

Me on the left: stealth mode. Michael: lookin’ serious but seriously HANDSOME :)

Just hanging out with the bridesmaids and flower girl. :) This was actually my second cousin’s wedding so a lot of them are family!

Can you spot me?! Haha

On the way to grab sunset portraits with Shea and Dan!

Big bridal party? No problem. I can corral them all and get those group shots done fast!

Mid portraits break because the HEAT was crazy on this day! Okay, I know I look a little sassy here… but I promise, this is a rarity. To be fair, it was 90+ degrees so I was probably asking for some water, aha!

Can you spot me?! Running back out after I went to grab something!!

After four years, I’ve gotten pretty fast at pinning on boutonnières! I’ve got you covered!

I step in to carry your train whenever you need it!

Posing for all the test shots…

Helping to light all those sparklers…

I go to great lengths to get the shot… including climbing up stairs or leaning awkwardly against a wall, haha!

The guy behind me… I’m laughing so hard!!

I have this secret skill of holding food while taking photos…

Okay, your reward for making it to the end of this post… those embarrassing photos I promised you. HAHA, I don’t even know what to say… I like making silly faces? This is what happens when you’re silly tired and having a blast? Plus when you shoot weddings with one of your closest friends… SO FUNNY. I think I was stretching on the one on the left, and on the right, who knows…

Thanks for reading! Can’t wait for a full year of 2019 weddings ahead!
