This is a question I get a LOT! Everyone wants to know why an engagement session is so important to their wedding photography experience. In fact, I think they’re SO important that I’ve started including them in all my collections! So here’s my top three reasons why:
It allows you to get comfortable in front of the camera. This gives you a chance to become familiar with the way I work. Doing an engagement session will give you an idea of what to expect when portrait time comes on your wedding day! Your wedding portraits will be a breeze. Which leads me to my next point…
You’ll have more portraits that you’ll love even more on your wedding day. Because you’ve had an engagement session, we both have had time to practice posing. This allows me to know what poses are YOUR poses and work really well for the two of you. Additionally, you will know how to do all the poses I’m asking you to do, which saves us a lot of time! :) This allows us to get SO many more portraits in the same amount of time, and portraits you’ll love even better because you’ll be naturals! So even if you’ve already had an engagement session done by a friend or another photographer, I highly recommend doing one with your chosen wedding photographer.
You’ll feel more connected with your photographer. When your wedding day comes, your photographer is someone you’ll be seeing a LOT of. I firmly believe that connecting with your photographer on a personal level is SO important. An engagement session gives you that time to get to know each other a little better, and personally, I LOVE hearing about all your wedding day plans… so hearing more about your ideas and knowing more about the two of you reflects positively in the way I can work on your wedding day. By having this time with you, I can better know what poses work best for the two of you and already know which side you prefer. :) I also strongly believe that connection with your photographer reflects in more trust on your wedding day, and more trust results in better photos… which allows me to give you the best experience possible!
